Overview
The Team Leader will be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis. The Team Leader will be the contact point for all team members providing excellent and open two-way communication and will act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
Responsibilities
* Work with other Team Leaders to make the best use of the resources available.
* Be responsible for manpower and pulse planning.
* Lead and motivate a team of Production Operatives to achieve clearly set Production goals.
* Delegate tasks and set deadlines, overseeing day-to-day operations and identifying and solving production issues efficiently to maintain production schedules.
* Monitor team performance and report on metrics.
* Discover training needs and provide coaching and performance management where required, recognising high performance and rewarding accomplishments.
* Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
* People management: Performance Management; Time Keeping; Housekeeping; Unsafe Practices.
* Manufacturing: be an expert in the specific discipline and know who the experts are in other disciplines.
* Initiate plans and processes to minimise manufacturing costs through effective specifications and processes.
* Strive to reduce production times and reduce waste by reviewing assembly methods and factory layout where appropriate and supporting new product trials.
* Manage Materials: ensuring best use of materials; managing waste; recording usage when required; ordering parts; identifying shortages; chasing outstanding shortages; managing excess stock.
* Assist with CNC, CAD, BOMs processes as appropriate.
* Liaise with design and technical departments to develop design changes to improve manufacturing efficiency; manage non-conformance reports and promptly resolve production issues with relevant teams.
* Advise senior team members of delays affecting customer deliveries and events, with suggested solutions.
* Implement, enforce and analyse quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives and maintain high production standards.
* Review space and location management to boost production capacity.
* Enable the production team to deliver excellent customer service, quality and value; ensure work meets required quality standards and take action when standards are not met.
* Attend management meetings as required.
* Implement changes to the build drive by Variations of Contract (VOC Memos) as necessary.
* Maintain the company’s expected level of service delivery to internal and external customers and promote customer service excellence.
Health & Safety
* Ensure equipment is regularly maintained, is in good working order and is used safely for its intended purpose.
* Identify process improvements and suggest recommendations.
* Champion 5S.
* Ensure team members are adequately trained in safe tool and MHE use.
* Ensure safe working practices are maintained and current legislation adhered to.
* Comply with company health and safety policy and procedures.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards and improve where necessary.
