Key areas of support
Our customer has a very good sense of humour and wants someone who can build rapport with her. She is a social person who loves to go to farms, go for walks, clubbing and attend friendship circle activities. She enjoys going for walks and driving out in her car, and it is essential you support her to access a variety of activities. Her safety is at the forefront of everything; this may involve physical intervention, and working collaboratively in a team is fundamental as her behaviours can often be unpredictable.
She also suffers from Epilepsy. Seizures may not be regular but can require rescue medication and may lead to hospital admission. Our customer requires someone who is engaged and will use and understand her signs to communicate, many of which are unique to her. This is a key part of building rapport to understand when things may trigger her behaviours that challenge. She is very independent with personal care but will still need two people to support her while she does so. She loves pampering and all things girly and bling; on occasions she may need prompting or direct support. For meals, the support team will cook for safety purposes, but she also enjoys helping with meal preparation, and keeping her living environment tidy.
Whilst this is an established team, the customer\'s needs will change as her support continues, so we need people who can adapt to changing requirements. Due to the specialism of this role, the successful candidate must be prepared to work within other areas of the business in and around Swindon should the need arise.
