Sales Assistant - St Albans (3212) role at GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway).
As a Sales Assistant you will be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service each and every time. You will often be the first point of contact our customers meet on their journey and it is therefore a vital role for making our customers' day. Due to the shift times you must live in the local area and have available independent transport to ensure that you arrive at the station for the early shift as required as there may not always be a train service available. All stations based roles may involve standing for long periods of time and working shifts including weekends and bank holidays. On a day to day basis you will be in the Ticket Office and proactively finding the right ticket for our customers while delivering excellent customer service to new and regular customers. We have the latest computer based ticketing system which is able to provide any information our customers may need and has direct access to our intranet. You will also be responsible for assisting customers where necessary.
Responsibilities
* Proactively assist customers in the Ticket Office, finding the right tickets and providing excellent customer service to both new and returning customers.
* Utilize the computer-based ticketing system to provide information and support via the intranet.
* Be the first point of contact for customers and represent the station in a professional manner.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth station operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications / Experience

* Exceptional levels of customer service; you will be a role model for others.
* Experience in managing customers effectively in difficult environments.
* High level of numerical ability.
* Local residency and independent transport to accommodate variable shift times.
* Effective communication skills demonstrated through application and assessments.
* Confidence to make customer-focused decisions and carry out instructions effectively.
