With over 150 years of history and a strong reputation in specialist lending and retail banking, the organisation is modernising its data infrastructure, migrating from legacy systems to a fully cloud-based Azure environment. Role Overview As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the business’s operational and strategic data needs. This role focuses on maintaining and evolving critical on-premise SQL Server data warehouses, while also contributing to wider data transformation initiatives. You'll work end-to-end across the data lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with stakeholders to design, document, and deliver robust data solutions. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role within a collaborative and supportive team environment, where mentoring and knowledge-sharing are actively encouraged. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Maintain and develop the on-premise SQL Server data warehouses that support daily business operations Translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver high-quality, scalable data products Document and present technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders for feedback and approval Collaborate with a team of 10 Data Engineers and work closely with the broader data function (Architecture, BI, Governance, etc.) Support project delivery by contributing to initiatives that improve data accessibility, reporting, and operational efficiency Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support in their development Participate in team meetings, solution design sessions, and peer reviews to ensure consistent quality and best practices What you’ll need: Extensive experience in a data engineering role Deep knowledge of SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS Experience working in regulated or financial environments Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills A pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset
