Head of Service - Fostering and Kinship Care

Due to internal movement, a fantastic opportunity has arisen within a Local Authority in the South West for a Head of Service to support the council’s Fostering team for an initial 3 month interim period. You will have a proven track record in delivering high performing fostering services, and be able to provide inspirational, inclusive and engaging leadership in the delivery of services.
Hybrid working is supported for this role, Initial 3 months, with a view to extend beyond.CV submission is by COP Friday 10th July 2025 with a view to arrange interviews as soon as possible.
About your role as Head of Fostering:
* Reporting to the Assistant Director of Children’s Services, you will be working on the development and maintenance of practice standards across the service.
* You will take lead responsibility for the functioning of the Fostering Service; working collaboratively with the corporate centre and specialist colleagues in Commissioning and Communications to deliver sufficiency and placement choice.
* You will work with colleagues to deliver an excellent service to Foster Carers that supports their needs and to provide the best care for children.
* Ensuring that safe and consistent care is provided as well as seeking service improvements and efficiencies.
* You will be responsible for Fostering Assessments, Reviews, Recruitment, Placements, and links with Independent Fostering Agencies.
* You will manage the operational service manager for the Supervised Contact Service/Rights and Participation Project to ensure the services to children and families requiring supervised contact is prioritised.
Your required experience as Head of Fostering:
* More than 2 years’ experience at a minimum in Head of Service role with expertise in Fostering and provider services.
* Active registration with Social Care England.
* High performance management across statutory services.
* Full understanding of Ofsted regulations
