As a security officer, you will play a central role in helping create a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff across all our premises. Security officers are based at our Fieldhead hospital site but spend a significant amount of time patrolling the site, ensuring safety, and engaging with staff and patients. Outgoing and proactive, security staff help promote security awareness among NHS colleagues and patients, patrolling grounds and car parks. We require candidates with experience and training in security or customer service, especially in handling challenging situations. Relevant training such as the Security Industry Authority (SIA) Door Supervisor or Security Officer Licence is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring visitors have a valid reason to be on hospital premises
* Requesting visitors to sign in and issuing passes
* Handling incidents that threaten staff and patient safety
* Diffusing potentially difficult situations where possible
* Liaising with police or emergency services when needed
* Monitoring CCTV footage
* Patrolling the hospital grounds vigilantly
* Advising managers and clinical staff on security matters
The ideal candidate should possess:
* A good standard of numeracy and literacy, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and maths
* A valid driving licence
* Experience in public sector security
* The ability to assess situations quickly
* Calmness under stress
* Confidence and reassurance skills
* Resilience in dealing with challenging behaviors
* Ability to follow procedures accurately
* Capability to work independently or as part of a team
* Willingness to handle unpredictable situations
* Physical fitness for walking and standing for extended periods
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
