Working arrangements
Please note this is an onsite role. Part-time working or job share options will be reviewed on an individual basis. This position is open to candidates currently based in the UK with the right to work there. We cannot sponsor visa applications at this time.
Overview of the role
Tokamak Energy is pioneering commercial fusion energy and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet systems. We seek a detail-oriented and technically skilled Electrical Technician to support assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems used in our fusion experiments and prototypes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform electrical LV work in accordance with safety policies.
* Assist in control panel layout, design, installation, and commissioning.
* Assemble and install control systems and panels.
* Maintain control systems, panels, and power supply systems.
* Fault find and troubleshoot electrical issues.
* Install and troubleshoot data networks and cabling.
* Work on mains powered distribution boards, including installation and maintenance.
* Test and commission electrical equipment and infrastructure.
* Attend to emergency electrical repairs.
* Coordinate with team members and contractors on electrical projects.
* Work safely and adhere to safety standards.
Requirements
* Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
* Experience with Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems.
* Practical wiring, panel building, and testing skills.
* Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
* Knowledge of electrical safety standards (e.g., BS 7671).
* Ability to read electrical diagrams.
* Flexible and proactive approach.
* Good communication skills.
* Understanding of Health & Safety.
* Basic IT skills.
* 2391 Inspection and Testing certification.
* Engineering status or working towards it.
* MEWP/IPAF 3A & 3B licenses.
* PASMA and First Aid training (training can be provided).

Safety-Critical Duties
* Electrical LV work, working at heights, in hot/cold environments, confined spaces.
