Director of Estates Hamilton Barber Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a highly respected not-for-profit organisation to recruit a strategic, hands-on leader to join the Executive Team as Director of Estates. This is a key leadership role covering estates development, facilities management, procurement, health & safety, and IT infrastructure across its portfolio. The Role As Director of Estates, you will provide both strategic direction and operational oversight of the organisation’s property portfolio. You will lead capital projects, ensure homes are compliant and well-maintained, and manage relationships with suppliers and contractors. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Executive Team, you will help shape a safe, efficient, and future-proof environment. Key Responsibilities for the Director of Estates * Develop and implement a long-term estates and asset management strategy. * Oversee acquisition, refurbishment, and development projects across multiple sites. * Lead a maintenance team and ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations. * Manage procurement processes and contracts, including catering and utilities. * Act as the lead contact for external IT providers and infrastructure planning. * Provide regular reporting and strategic advice to the Board. * Identify opportunities for innovation, cost savings, and service improvements. About You My client is looking for a senior estates or facilities professional with a balance of strategic insight and practical capability, with experienc in managing complex projects and understand the challenges of maintaining high-quality environments in a regulated setting. You will liaise internally and externally therefore you will be a strong communicator and collaborator and capable of influencing at all levels. Essential Criteria * Senior-level experience in estates/facilities management across multiple sites. * Track record of delivering capital works projects on time and within budget. * Strong understanding of compliance frameworks including health & safety. * Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. * Hold a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification Desirable * Experience within the care, housing, or not-for-profit sectors.
