Working Pattern: 5 days over 7
Shift Pattern
1. Early: 05:00 – 14:30
2. Late: 10:30 – 19:00
Meal Service Times
3. Breakfast: 06:30 – 08:00
4. Lunch: 12:15 – 13:30
5. Evening Meal: 17:30 – 18:30
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our catering team at RAF Bassingbourn. This is a great opportunity to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals within a structured Defence catering environment.
Key Responsibilities
6. Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations
7. Prepare, cook, and serve high-quality meals across all services
8. Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure consistency and standards
9. Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness practices
10. Assist with menu planning, stock control, ordering, and allergen management
11. Ensure smooth and efficient service delivery across all shift patterns
About You
12. Previous experience essential in a similar role (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie)
13. Culinary qualifications desirable (City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent)
14. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
15. Passion for great food and quality service
16. Flexible, reliable, and comfortable working early and late shifts
