Location: Net Zero Teesside Project
At Balfour Beatty, we’re building a sustainable future. The Net Zero Teesside project is a flagship initiative, combining a state-of-the-art gas-fired power station with advanced carbon capture technology—playing a pivotal role in the UK’s journey to net zero.
We are currently looking for an Electrical Appointed Person (AP) to join our Temporary Site Services team. This is a key role responsible for the safe control, management and delivery of electrical safe systems of work (ESSW), supporting the successful delivery of this high-profile project.
What you’ll be doing
- Taking ownership of Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSW) and ensuring compliance across site
- Providing leadership and direction to the AP team and wider workforce
- Supporting planning activities, including work package plans, risk assessments, and temporary works solutions
- Driving a strong Zero Harm culture and continuous safety improvements
- Leading toolbox talks, task briefings, and site communications
- Monitoring progress against programme targets and KPIs
- Managing resources effectively, including labour, plant, and materials
- Liaising closely with engineering, construction teams and subcontractors
- Ensuring quality standards through inspections and use of BIM Field 360
- Identifying risks, non-conformances, and opportunities for improvement
Who we’re looking for
- Proven experience as an Electrical Appointed Person on construction projects
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Experience managing temporary electrical installations
- Ability to lead teams, communicate clearly and drive performance
- Experience working with subcontractors and managing site resources
- Confident delivering engaging toolbox talks and briefings
- Holds CSCS Card, SMSTS and a full UK driving licence
- Flexible approach, with willingness to work nights/weekends where required
