About the role

Location: Net Zero Teesside Project

At Balfour Beatty, we’re building a sustainable future. The Net Zero Teesside project is a flagship initiative, combining a state-of-the-art gas-fired power station with advanced carbon capture technology—playing a pivotal role in the UK’s journey to net zero.

We are currently looking for an Electrical Appointed Person (AP) to join our Temporary Site Services team. This is a key role responsible for the safe control, management and delivery of electrical safe systems of work (ESSW), supporting the successful delivery of this high-profile project.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking ownership of Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSW) and ensuring compliance across site
  • Providing leadership and direction to the AP team and wider workforce
  • Supporting planning activities, including work package plans, risk assessments, and temporary works solutions
  • Driving a strong Zero Harm culture and continuous safety improvements
  • Leading toolbox talks, task briefings, and site communications
  • Monitoring progress against programme targets and KPIs
  • Managing resources effectively, including labour, plant, and materials
  • Liaising closely with engineering, construction teams and subcontractors
  • Ensuring quality standards through inspections and use of BIM Field 360
  • Identifying risks, non-conformances, and opportunities for improvement

Who we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Appointed Person on construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
  • Experience managing temporary electrical installations
  • Ability to lead teams, communicate clearly and drive performance
  • Experience working with subcontractors and managing site resources
  • Confident delivering engaging toolbox talks and briefings
  • Holds CSCS Card, SMSTS and a full UK driving licence
  • Flexible approach, with willingness to work nights/weekends where required

Why join us?

  • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
  • Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave
  • Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more...

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We are looking to continually improve our resourcing process and ensure that it is fair and inclusive for all.
