Machine Operator Role
At Sorba Freeze, our chilled packaging offers innovative and cost-effective temperature-controlled solutions, including insulated boxes, ice packs, and liners for maintaining temperature-sensitive products during transport. We are known for our expertise in the chilled packaging market, serving sectors like meat, cheese, and dairy. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Machine Operator to join our Production Team in Glenrothes. Your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery within the Sorba Freeze division. By operating lane filling machines, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with team members, you contribute to our production success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
2. Machine Operation: Set up lane-filling machines per job requirements, monitor performance, and adjust to optimize quality and efficiency.
3. Quality Control: Conduct regular checks on produced materials, ensuring they meet quality standards, including print quality and dimensions. Identify and address defects or issues affecting product quality.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs.
5. Material Handling and Setup: Manage materials and prepare equipment for production.
6. Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of production activities, machine settings, downtime, and quality checks.
7. Administrative Tasks: Manage paperwork related to job specifications and dispatch.
8. Compliance: Strictly follow BRC processes.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Machine Operation Knowledge: Understanding of operating principles for production machinery.
2. Experience: Prior experience with lane filling or similar form-fill-seal machinery is highly advantageous.
3. Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
4. Safety and Compliance: Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
5. Material Handling: Knowledge of safe handling practices.
6. Quality Inspection: Skills in conducting visual and measurement-based quality checks.
7. Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate machine setup, monitoring, and inspection.
8. Additional: Forklift license is desirable but not essential.
