Role Overview
To support effective clinical care by delivering an efficient Health Records service to patients, medical staff and nursing teams. The post ensures outpatient, day‑case, and inpatient appointments are administered accurately, and that patient health records remain confidential, securely stored and available whenever required. Wide‑range administrative, clerical and reception support is also provided, maintaining both electronic and paper‑based patient record systems and constantly updating patient administrative information in the patient management system.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde can issue a Certificate of Sponsorship only where these criteria are met.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
The initial base will be the Royal Hospital for Children. This is a GGC‑wide post, meaning the postholder may be moved to any location within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term post until 13/10/2026.
Shift Pattern: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 08:30‑17:00; Tuesday 08:30‑15:30.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide an efficient Health Records service to support clinical care.
* Administer and process patient appointments for outpatient clinics, day cases and inpatient admissions accurately.
* Maintain confidentiality and secure storage of patient health records.
* Ensure records are available when required by clinical staff.
* Deliver administrative, clerical and receptionist services.
* Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date electronic and paper patient records.
* Continually check and update patient demographic and administrative data on the patient management system.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience
* National 4 or Level 1 qualification in three subjects, including English, or equivalent.
* General administration or clerical experience is desirable.
* Computer literacy with good keyboard skills.
* Previous reception experience is desirable.
* Experience using a Patient Management System is desirable; training will be provided.
