Job Description
The Head of Planning will be responsible for ensuring effective planning of all CDE customer projects, from go-live to completion. Collaborating with project managers, operational leaders, and functional heads, they will drive planning excellence, govern the planning department, and oversee scheduling across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning, considering capacity constraints to meet customer requirements.
The successful candidate will establish realistic project plans, control plans throughout project stages, and proactively identify and escalate risks for mitigation. They will promote planning best practices, develop the planning team, and focus on delivering value to customers.
This role involves continuous improvement of planning processes, team development, and ensuring alignment with business goals. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and improve the planning department's expertise and practices towards industry best standards.
* Manage the planning budget, including resource allocation and departmental costs.
* Develop and oversee a planning governance framework, ensuring stakeholder engagement and accountability.
* Enhance inter-departmental collaboration to improve project delivery.
* Maintain knowledge of planning best practices, fostering learning and knowledge sharing.
* Create feasible operational plans considering capacity constraints and resource leveling.
* Monitor project portfolio performance, using reports and dashboards to ensure plans are effective and aligned with strategy.
* Implement data collection and reporting practices for project metrics.
* Optimize ERP systems to support planning activities and collaborate with IT on software improvements.
* Guide project teams on lead times and support detailed project planning.
* Manage and mentor the planning team, promoting a positive, developmental culture, and conducting performance reviews.
Skills Needed
Essential skills include leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder management, and proficiency with project management software and ERP systems. A professional qualification in planning and extensive industry experience are preferred.

Criteria
* At least ten years' planning experience in construction or related industries.
* Experience scheduling manufacturing or assembly facilities.
* Professional planning qualification preferred.
Minimum Requirements
* At least three years managing and developing teams.
* Experience with project management and capacity planning software, including ERP.
* Experience with capacity planning across multiple departments and IBP/S&OP processes.
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
* Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent planning experience and qualifications.
