Overview
Solicitor - Military (NQ to 4 years PQE) – Hugh James, Catterick Garrison, England, United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload within a specialist military injuries team, focusing on injury claims where service personnel have not been adequately protected. The role involves handling a mixed caseload of general personal injury work, including clinical negligence and industrial disease, with a particular focus on carcinogenic claims arising from military service with the Ministry of Defence. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
* Handle a mixed caseload of general personal injury work, incorporating clinical negligence and industrial disease, with a focus on military-related carcinogenic claims.
* Conduct a wide range of general personal injury cases.
* Maintain knowledge of CPR and the law relating to personal injury.
* Provide advice to clients on sensitive matters.
* Draft witness statements and pleadings.
* Review medical reports and provide appropriate advice.
* Instruct and communicate with Counsel.
* Attend highly complex conferences.
* Work with other solicitors to develop and maintain good client relationships and knowledge within clinical negligence.
* Maintain a professional attitude and, if required, supervise other fee earners.
* Attend legal clinics in various locations and signpost clients to relevant legal services.
* Take initial enquiries from clients and update them on their claim.
Qualifications
* Strong organisation and time management skills; ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent client care skills.
* A highly ambitious, self-motivated individual who is comfortable working within a team and on their own.
* Forward-thinking approach to work; previous experience valued but the PQE is a guide only.
