Overview
Retail assistants play a crucial role in ensuring excellent customer service and smooth store operations, handling tasks from cleaning, sales support to inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
* Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries
* Provide excellent customer service; be comfortable engaging with customers
* Provide product information and recommendations
* Operate the cash register and handle payments accurately and efficiently
* Maintain clean, organised, and well‑stocked shelves
* Maintain a clean, presentable shop, including entrance, floors and till areas
* Receive, unpack, and display merchandise
* Assist with stock control and inventory checks, highlighting shortages
* Handle customer complaints professionally and escalating when necessary
* Follow store policies, procedures, and health & safety guidelines
* Support promotions and sales initiatives
Skills and Qualifications
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Friendly, approachable, and customer‑focused attitude
* Ability to work well in a team and independently
* Basic math and cash‑handling skills
* Good time management and attention to detail
* Comfortable approaching senior members if you have any concerns
* Excellent teamwork skills; often work as part of a team, requiring collaboration with colleagues to meet store goals.
Working Conditions
* Flexible working hours, including weekends and bank holidays
* Standing for extended periods
* Fast‑paced retail environment
Additional Duties
* Must be flexible to work weekends and across various sites within Cheshire
* Clocking in and out on time
* Must adhere to the Company handbook standards
* Maintain confidentiality at all times
