Job Description
This recruitment is for a Level 3 post. You must have completed your ASYE and have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in mental health.
We are seeking a motivated experienced social worker to join the North London Forensic Service (NLFS) based in Chase Farm Hospital, Enfield on a part‑time basis. NLFS provides care for mentally disordered offenders under the Mental Health Act (MHA) working across medium, low secure and community settings, including specialist services for women and patients with a learning disability.
As an SW England registered social worker who may be an AMHP, you will bring a social perspective to the multi‑disciplinary team’s formulation and, in line with the ‘Forensic Mental Health Social Work: Capabilities Framework’, you will deliver appropriate interventions. You will discharge statutory duties, work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders and agencies, and ensure effective bridges are built between in‑patient detention and community discharge processes, promoting social inclusion and recovery.
Main Tasks
* Work with approximately 20 patients, assessing risk and social care needs and identifying appropriate care pathways across medium and low secure, outreach, learning disability, women’s service acute and rehabilitation wards.
* Respond to safeguarding concerns, including those involving adults and children.
* Apply relevant legislation and guidance in practice (e.g. MHA, MCA, Care Act, Criminal Justice Act, Children Act, HRA, DVCV Act).
* Work with families, victims and family victims, making referrals to MAPPA and MARAC.
* Complete various social work reports (e.g. MHT & MHAM presenting reports for MHT & AHM hearings and MOJ social supervision).
* Balance public protection with the least restrictive option principle.
* Work alongside the patient's Responsible Borough to complete needs assessments, housing and funding panel applications.
Qualifications
* Completed ASYE.
* Minimum two years of experience in mental health.
* SW England registered and may be an AMHP.
