People & Operations Assistant Location: Carlisle Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £28,000 p/a NXT Recruitment is supporting a growing and well-established business to recruit a People & Operations Assistant. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the People & Operations Manager with day-to-day processes, systems, and office functions. You’ll take ownership of operational tasks across the business, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. This position would suit a highly organised, proactive individual who enjoys working across operations, HR, and administration while supporting team development and compliance. The Role As People & Operations Assistant, you will support the People & Operations Manager in managing operational and administrative tasks across the business. You’ll assist with HR processes, office management, system support, and team coordination, ensuring deadlines are met and internal processes run effectively. Key Responsibilities Operations & Administration • Assist with daily operational activities to keep the business running smoothly • Maintain filing systems, prepare reports, and provide general administrative support • Coordinate meetings, events, and internal training sessions Agency Setup • Coordinate new agency setups with providers and ensure deadlines are met • Process internal transfers promptly to maintain service levels Payment Matching • Match payments accurately and promptly • Resolve discrepancies and clear items in withheld or suspense Health & Safety Management • Support compliance with health and safety regulations • Assist with risk assessments and ensure team training is up to date System Management & Back-Office Support • Support back-office systems and outsourced functions • Respond to system queries, escalate IT issues, and assist with scheduled maintenance People Support • Assist with recruitment, posting jobs, scheduling interviews, and conducting application checks • Support inductions, training rollouts, and maintaining staff records • Ensure personnel files and HR systems are accurate and compliant About You • Highly organised with strong multitasking skills • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal • Proficient with back-office systems, HR software, and Microsoft Office • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing payments, documentation, and staff records • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges • Experience in administrative support, recruitment, training, and HR processes • Knowledge of health and safety compliance and audit support • Collaborative, flexible, and able to work across teams For a confidential discussion or to apply, contact Simon Kean at NXT Recruitment on 01228 812585 or email Simon.Kean@NXTRecruitment.co.uk.
