Senior Site Reliability Engineer role for Lloyds Banking Group. Salary range: £70,929 - £78,810 (outside London); £81,999 - £91,110 (London only). Locations: Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, or London. Hours: Full-time. Working pattern: Hybrid, with at least two days per week (40%) in office.
This opportunity is with the Segments & Propositions (S&P) Platform, delivering a unified digital servicing proposition for personal customers to enhance digital experience and self-service options. You will be part of a collaborative team embedded across five labs with monthly platform-wide show & tell sessions.
What you will do
* Deliver against GCP and SRE public cloud technology roadmaps
* Collaborate with engineering teams to release and evolve enterprise-class solutions
* Manage operations of critical banking services, including 24x7 on-call coverage
* Enhance resiliency and reliability of customer-facing services
* Troubleshoot issues with an engineering mindset
* Build tooling to support service reliability and code quality
* Work across multiple labs and signature projects in the Digital space
* Lead Chaos Engineering initiatives to stress test services
What you’ll need
* Strong understanding of SRE & DevOps, including Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Terraform, or Jenkins)
* Proficiency with incident management software (e.g., ServiceNow)
* Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, SRE on GCP & Cloud Observability
* Knowledge of orchestrations tools (e.g., Harness)
* Experience with GCP and Azure cloud platforms
* Ability to identify toil and design automated solutions to remove it
* Reliability & performance management: design and own SLOs for critical platform services; monitor health and improve MTBF/MTTR
* Incident & problem management: lead incident response and post-mortem analysis; implement root cause remediation
* Platform advocacy & collaboration: promote SRE principles across labs; work with product owners, engineering leads, and application teams
* Technical leadership: oversee cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability tooling, and automation
* Continuous improvement: drive deployment, monitoring, and alerting enhancements and reduce toil
* Governance & compliance: ensure adherence to risk, security, and regulatory standards
Nice to have
* Experience designing and managing cloud orchestrations; familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub, Harness
* Experience programming languages
* Production Kubernetes experience
* Strong cloud security and networking understanding
* Technical architecture and microservice design principles
