The role
As a Facilities Specialist – Electrical, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll assist the Shiplift Manager in maximising the utilisation of personnel and resources within the section. You'll support maintenance and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery, playing an integral part in the smooth running of the Shiplift electrical maintenance team. You'll also plan and lead maintenance programming to meet operational demands and safety standards.
Day-to-day, you’ll work across a variety of tasks, from routine duties to complex operations. You'll carry out Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities, support out-of-hours (OOH) operations, and ensure the implementation of quality and safety policies. You'll also be responsible for preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), while engaging with stakeholders to maintain alignment and operational efficiency.
* Forward-plan maintenance and project work, coordinating with departments and vessels to meet KPIs with minimal concessions
* Ensure all tasks meet company standards for cost, time, and quality (AC17)
* Support all OOH activities with an operational imperative across Clyde Naval Base, as directed by the Base Shift Manager.
* Draft concessions, input technical data, and prepare technical reports as required
* Scope and make safe defects as they occur and are reported in accordance with the MSDF contract.
This role is full time and based onsite at HMNB Clyde (Faslane) near Helensburgh.
Essential experience of the Facilities Specialist – Electrical
* High and low voltage electrical systems
* Skilled in reading engineering drawings and maintaining documentation
* Authorised Person procedures and facility safety cases
* Safe systems of work and risk assessment practices (essential)
* Strong understanding of electrical maintenance in operational environments
Qualifications for the Facilities Specialist – Electrical
* HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* Proof of completion within an Electrical Apprenticeship
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* Authorised Person Electrical Low Voltage – desirable but training will be provided.
* Emergency First Aid/Electric Shock training

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
