Location: Par Moor Centre, Par Moor Road, Par, Cornwall, PL24 2SQ
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Shift pattern: Monday–Friday, rotating two‑shift pattern
* Week 1: 07:00–15:00
* Week 2: 14:00–22:00

We are currently recruiting a Laboratory Technician to join our Sample Preparation & Physical Analysis (SPPA) team at our Par Moor Centre in Cornwall. This is an opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career within a laboratory and scientific environment.

The Job Role
You will be responsible for:
* Carrying out laboratory‑scale sample preparation and physical analysis using approved test methods and Good Laboratory Practice
* Performing repetitive, hands‑on manual handling of bulk raw material samples
* Supporting the wider analytical team with sample preparation and testing activities
* Accurately recording and reporting results using laboratory systems, including LIMS and Google‑based tools
* Supporting ISO9001 laboratory accreditation through routine checks, calibration and quality control activities
* Working safely at all times, adhering to health & safety procedures, risk assessments and PPE requirements
* Maintaining good housekeeping standards within the laboratory and surrounding work areas
* Working independently once trained, with guidance from experienced team members

You Will:
* Be comfortable with hands‑on, repetitive and physical work
* Be organised, methodical and highly safety‑conscious
* Have basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and word processing (Google Docs / Sheets or similar)
* Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team
* Be willing to work a rotating shift pattern (Monday–Friday)
Desirable but not essential:
* Previous laboratory, manufacturing or industrial experience
* Experience working with laboratory systems (e.g. LIMS)
* An interest in science, geology or analytical work
Full training will be provided, with the opportunity to progress following successful completion of probation and competency assessment.
