Overview

As the Head of Volunteer Engagement, you’ll develop and implement strategies to attract, engage, and retain passionate volunteers who are committed to advancing social justice and women’s rights.

What are we looking for?

* Leadership and Management Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of volunteers, with experience in managing volunteer programs and fostering engagement.
* Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly articulating the organisation’s mission and inspiring volunteers.
* Strategic Planning Strong skills in developing and executing strategies for volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement, with a focus on aligning with organisational goals.
* Interpersonal Skills Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, stakeholders, and community members, promoting collaboration and support.
* Organisational Abilities Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, events, and initiatives simultaneously, with attention to detail and follow-through.


Experience

* Volunteer Management Demonstrated experience in volunteer coordination or management, with a track record of successfully recruiting, onboarding, and retaining volunteers.
* Nonprofit Sector Familiarity with nonprofit organisations, including their operations, challenges, and best practices for volunteer engagement.
* Program Development Experience in designing and implementing programs or initiatives that enhance volunteer participation and satisfaction.
* Advocacy and Outreach Previous experience in outreach or advocacy roles, with the ability to effectively represent the organisation and build strategic partnerships.


What will you be doing?

As the Head of Volunteer Engagement at The Elizabeth Heyrick Society, you will spearhead our efforts to build and sustain a vibrant volunteer network. Your role is to attract, recruit, and inspire a diverse group of volunteers who are dedicated to advancing social justice and women’s rights.


Key Responsibilities

* Recruitment & Onboarding Develop and execute innovative strategies to recruit volunteers at all levels. Manage the onboarding process to ensure a smooth and engaging introduction to the organisation.
* Volunteer Management Create and implement programs that keep volunteers motivated and involved. Provide ongoing support and recognition to ensure their experiences are fulfilling and impactful.
* Strategy & Planning Collaborate with the board of trustees to align volunteer engagement strategies with the organisation’s mission and goals. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives.
* Community Building Foster a sense of community among volunteers through events, communication, and collaborative projects. Build strong relationships with volunteers to enhance their commitment and satisfaction.
* Advocacy & Outreach Represent the organisation at community events and networking opportunities to promote volunteer opportunities and enhance our visibility.


Qualifications

* Proven experience in volunteer management or a related field.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse groups.
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* Passion for social justice and women’s rights, with a commitment to advancing these causes through volunteerism.
