Quality Safety and Communications Officer

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join us as a Quality Safety and Communications Officer.

Role Purpose

The Quality, Safety & Communications Officer will take primary responsibility for regulating Health & Safety and managing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Quality Standards across Service Sport UK. Reporting to the CIO, this role will act as the custodian of compliance, ensuring that H&S and Quality processes are followed consistently across all departments.

The post-holder will be supported by the CIO, dedicated external Health & Safety and Quality Consultants, and H&S Reps at both Witham and Chorley who will perform the routine checks, inspections and processes under this role’s guidance.

Alongside compliance, the role will drive effective internal communication, ensuring that all H&S, Quality, and HR-related content is clearly communicated and accessible via the company’s intranet. They will also contribute to onboarding new staff and reinforcing a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across the organisation.


Skills & Experience

* Demonstrable experience in Health & Safety, Quality, or Compliance roles.
* Practical knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems desirable.
* Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation, inspections, and audits.
* Strong communication skills for creating staff-facing content and guidance.
* Experience using digital design and presentation tools for creating graphics, layouts, and professional slide decks.
* Experience using intranet platforms or other business communication tools.
* Ability to influence and coordinate across multiple sites and departments.
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
* Willingness to travel between Witham and Chorley.


Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety (Business-Wide Regulation)

* Regulate and oversee all Health & Safety activity across the business.
* Ensure compliance with current legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
* Guide and oversee H&S Reps at Witham and Chorley, ensuring they carry out routine checks and processes correctly.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits at both sites to verify compliance and standards.
* Maintain H&S policies, risk assessments, and documentation.
* Lead accident/incident reporting processes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Liaise with the external Health & Safety Consultant for expert support and to escalate specialist issues.

Quality & ISO Management

* Take responsibility for maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Manage all quality documentation and ensure it remains current, accurate, and fit for purpose.
* Prepare for and coordinate internal and external audits, including evidence collation.
* Liaise with the external Quality Consultant for additional support and specialist expertise.
* Monitor processes across departments to ensure adherence to ISO and Quality standards.
* Exercise authority over the procurement and handling of third-party suppliers and services relating to Health & Safety and QMS/EMS compliance.

Internal Communications & Intranet

* Create, publish, and maintain compliance-related content on the business intranet platform.
* Ensure staff receive accurate and timely information relating to H&S and Quality policies.
* Maintain a digital footprint of training and communication to satisfy audit and accreditation requirements.
* Regularly review and update intranet content, removing outdated or irrelevant information.
* Create and circulate newsletters and internal communications to promote a culture of safety and quality.
* Act as a champion for adoption of digital tools across the business.

Staff Induction & Onboarding

* Play an active role in new starter inductions, ensuring compliance and policies are communicated from day one.
* Ensure staff receive correct onboarding materials and training.
* Maintain induction records to support compliance for ISO and accreditation purposes.
* Influence and coordinate the activities of site-based H&S Reps.
* Liaise with the CIO, managers, and consultants to align compliance activities with business priorities.
* Act as a trusted advisor to staff and managers on all matters relating to H&S, Quality, and compliance.
