An excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC Maintenance Engineer / Building Services Engineer to join a leading research and innovation organisation, supporting the operation and maintenance of advanced mechanical and building services systems across a large scientific campus.

SALARY:

£38,000 to £43,000 per annum + Benefits

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an HVAC Maintenance Engineer / Building Services Engineer with strong technical knowledge of HVAC and building services systems.
As a HVAC Maintenance Engineer / Building Services Engineer you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnostics, and commissioning across a wide range of HVAC plant and systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
The HVAC Maintenance Engineer / Building Services Engineer will work across a varied and engaging environment supporting laboratories, offices, and research facilities, helping to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient building operations.

DUTIES
Your duties as the HVAC Maintenance Engineer / Building Services Engineer include:
Carry Out Maintenance:

Deliver planned preventative, reactive, and condition-based maintenance across HVAC and building services systems
Investigate Faults:

Diagnose and resolve technical issues on air handling units, chillers, boilers, and ventilation systems
Optimise Systems:

Analyse BMS data and implement energy efficiency improvements
Test and Commission:

Commission and re-commission plant and equipment to operational standards
Maintain Records:

Record maintenance activities and results in the CAFM system
Supervise Contractors:

Coordinate small works and oversee specialist subcontractors where required
Ensure Compliance:

Conduct risk assessments and method statements to maintain safe working practices
Respond to Emergencies:

Participate in an on-call rota to support out-of-hours maintenance issues
Support Building Operations:

Assist with general building services and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Apprenticeship or equivalent training in mechanical or electrical engineering
City & Guilds Level 3 in HVAC or Building Services Engineering
F-Gas Category 1 certification
Proven experience of maintaining HVAC and building services systems in commercial or laboratory environments
Working knowledge of BMS systems and SFG20 standards
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Full, clean UK driving licence
DESIRABLE
Experience with boilers, chillers, heat pumps, or medical gas systems
Familiarity with Trend control systems and Concept Evolution CAFM software
Knowledge of TM44, CIBSE energy efficiency practices
Understanding of building fabric maintenance and small works coordination
