The Facilities Operative is responsible for the maintenance, safety, and efficient running of Horsham Matters' facilities, including our warehouse, retail shops, and vehicle fleet. The role ensures compliance with health and safety requirements, supports logistics and stock movement, and provides administrative support to the operations team. This is a full time (37,5 hours a week) on site role with occasional anti sociable hours.
Core Duties
Facilities & Maintenance
a) Carry out and/or coordinate day-to-day building maintenance and repairs across all sites.
b) Support the planning and management of larger repairs, refurbishments, or contractor works.
c) Maintain building security, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
Health & Safety
a) Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
b) Carry out regular risk assessments, inspections, and safety checks.
c) Maintain accurate records and report on health and safety matters.
Vehicle Fleet
a) Oversee the charity's vehicle fleet, ensuring regular servicing, MOTs, insurance, and roadworthiness.
b) Manage vehicle use, logbooks, and fuel records.
c) Coordinate vehicle-related repairs and breakdowns.
Logistics & Operations
a) Support warehouse logistics, including deliveries, collections, and stock management and transfers between sites.
b) Assist in planning and coordinating vehicle schedules and driver support.
c) Work closely with retail and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operational flow.
Administration
a) Maintain records relating to facilities, health and safety, and fleet management.
b) Support the Chief Executive Officer with compliance documentation and audits.
c) Contribute to the development of processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
d) Assist the CEO with ad hoc tasks and projects as needed
Person Specification
a) Practical, hands-on experience in facilities, maintenance, or a similar role.
b) Knowledge of health and safety requirements (or willingness to undertake training).
c) Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise tasks.
d) Strong communication and teamwork skills.
e) Full unendorsed UK driving licence.
