Overview
Medical Law Services have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in undertaking assessments of clinical negligence leads conducted by our medical legal acceptance team with a view to identifying cases where there are sufficient prospects to proceed. In addition, they will provide legal guidance where needed to the Medical Law Services Teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Review clinical negligence leads reviewed by the medical legal team and SIDSS.
* Accept at RA1 any cases which satisfy the acceptance criteria as set out in the firm’s policy document.
* Identify on risk assessment the relevant date of knowledge, record on Proclaim, and record the reasons why the limitation period has been set to that date.
* Provide training, guidance and support to Medical Law Services and Fletchers lawyers as necessary.
* Support systems teams with the development of the SIDSS system.
* Provide legal guidance to the MLS Teams and, where needed, assist with case progression.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience of handling clinical negligence claims.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent case management skills.
* Good knowledge of medical conditions and ability to identify appropriate case categories.
* Analytical skills and a methodical approach.
* Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work as a team member and remotely.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Experience of Proclaim or other software tools for example Adobe, Microsoft.
