MSK Outpatient physio / full or part time / no 'On call' or weekend work / MSc level training supported / multi-sites/ Free staff parking. Patient experience and Staff Health & wellbeing is high on our agenda. The caseload will consist of GP referrals, self referrals and Orthopaedics. The working days/times for the successful candidate can be flexible.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our MSK Physiotherapy Service in Berkshire; we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative candidate to a Band 6 Musculoskeletal Practitioner position. This post will be based Newbury, Reading, Wokingham, Windsor, Bracknell, Maidenhead or Slough dependent on service need with consideration for personal preference. For those with more experience at band 6 level, there are developmental opportunities in FCP (First Contact Practitioner), MSK Triage, Pain, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) and Management.

We offer excellent in-service training, one to one clinical development and regular peer support to all our Band 6 staff; currently we are supporting several staff to complete their MSc. Every member of staff also receives a comprehensive yearly appraisal to assist in their development. Funding for external courses is available, as well as the opportunity to attend in-house courses.


Main duties of the job

* Work at a high level of clinical skill seeing a caseload of MSK referrals mainly consisting of GP referrals
* Supervising band 3,4 and 5 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants
* Involved in the clinical education of physiotherapy students Service development and involvement in the service Quality Improvement drive.

Working pattern + Service operating hours

This post is open to those looking for full or part time work. The service operates Monday to Friday between 07:30-18:00 depending on site - there will be a level of flexibility in the hours you work depending on service need.

Person Specification


Education/Qualifications/Training

* Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
* HPC Registration
* CSP membership
* Membership of relevant Special Interest Group


Continuous Professional Development

* Evidence of CPD in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field / reflective practice in this clinical field.


Previous Experience

* Postgraduate / undergraduate experience in musculoskeletal / orthopaedic out patients
* Postgraduate experience for a minimum of 12 months
* Experience of working in UK health systems / NHS
* Postgraduate experience covering core rotations
* Supervision of juniors / assistants / students
* Experience of delegating tasks


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner
* Sound knowledge of Physiotherapy in the relevant area
* Knowledge of this post and Trust
* Self-directed learning
* Ability to pass on skills/knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
* Evidence of participation in Audit and Research
* Awareness of relevant National and local policies and guidelines relevant to the area
* Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
* Understanding of Clinical Governance and legal responsibilities of the role and its implications for services.
