Commercial Co-ordinator

Based in Basildon, Monay – Friday 9-5 (hybrid option upon completion of training)

Salary range £25k-33k subject on experience

2 years’ experience in a similar role.

Start ASAP for training ahead of staff member leaving us to go travelling.

. Customer & Sales Support

* Respond to customer inquiries regarding rates, transit times, and service options (air, road, and multimodal). Import experience essential, export advantageous.

* Prepare and issue accurate freight quotations based on carrier tariffs, internal guidelines, and profit margins.

* Follow up on quotations to convert leads into bookings.

* Assist the sales team with pricing, presentations, and customer-related documentation.

2. Coordination Between Departments

* Liaise with operations, sales, and customs teams to ensure proper handling of customer shipments.

* Work closely with carriers, agents, and service providers to gather rates and service details.

* Support the onboarding of new customers by coordinating with internal stakeholders.

3. Commercial Administration

* Maintain updated pricing files, carrier contracts, and rate sheets.

* Record sales activities, customer communications, and quotation outcomes in the CRM system.

* Track and report on commercial performance metrics (hit rates, volumes, new business, etc.).

5. Customer Relationship Management

* Support account management by handling routine customer queries.

* Ensure customer satisfaction through prompt response and proactive communication.

* Escalate customer issues to the commercial manager when necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain (typically 1–3 years).

* Strong understanding of international shipping (air, sea, road), Incoterms, and basic freight pricing.

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

* Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.

* Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems. Cargo Wise experience advantageous

* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
