Careers Co-ordinator
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 | Hours: Full-time (41 hours/week), Term-time | Location: Cambridge
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school for a passionate and experienced Careers Co-ordinator. This is a fantastic opportunity to support learners with special educational needs, guiding them towards meaningful pathways into adulthood and helping them achieve their aspirations for post-16 education, training, or employment.
What the role involves:
* Lead the delivery of the school’s careers programme, supporting learners across KS4 and KS5 with transitions to their next destination.
* Build strong relationships with learners, families, and external providers to ensure tailored support for each student.
* Develop and implement personalised Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) plans and oversee career-related activities.
* Facilitate smooth transitions into post-16 placements, including applications, interviews, and transition visits.
* Coordinate careers interviews, events, trips, and a Careers Fair to expose learners to a wide range of industries and opportunities.
* Maintain accurate records, databases, and destination tracking for all leavers, and build an active alumni community.
* Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and families to provide holistic, joined-up support.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, government standards (including Gatsby Benchmarks and Baker Clause), and health and safety requirements.
* Deliver and oversee aspects of the Preparation for Adulthood curriculum, including Independent Travel Training, with potential teaching responsibilities.
Who we’re looking for:
* Minimum of GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly autism.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
* Competent with IT systems, data management, and administration tasks.
* Passionate about supporting learners to reach their full potential.
* Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage a diverse workload.
Desirable:
* Full clean driving licence (with business insurance).
* Level 6 Diploma in Careers Advice and Guidance, or willingness to work towards this.
* Knowledge of PDA profiles and further/higher education pathways.
* Experience organising career events, interviews, and trips.
