Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 | Hours: Full-time (41 hours/week), Term-time | Location: Cambridge

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school for a passionate and experienced Careers Co-ordinator. This is a fantastic opportunity to support learners with special educational needs, guiding them towards meaningful pathways into adulthood and helping them achieve their aspirations for post-16 education, training, or employment.

What the role involves:

* Lead the delivery of the school’s careers programme, supporting learners across KS4 and KS5 with transitions to their next destination.

* Build strong relationships with learners, families, and external providers to ensure tailored support for each student.

* Develop and implement personalised Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) plans and oversee career-related activities.

* Facilitate smooth transitions into post-16 placements, including applications, interviews, and transition visits.

* Coordinate careers interviews, events, trips, and a Careers Fair to expose learners to a wide range of industries and opportunities.

* Maintain accurate records, databases, and destination tracking for all leavers, and build an active alumni community.

* Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and families to provide holistic, joined-up support.

* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, government standards (including Gatsby Benchmarks and Baker Clause), and health and safety requirements.

* Deliver and oversee aspects of the Preparation for Adulthood curriculum, including Independent Travel Training, with potential teaching responsibilities.

Who we’re looking for:

* Minimum of GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

* Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly autism.

* Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.

* Competent with IT systems, data management, and administration tasks.

* Passionate about supporting learners to reach their full potential.

* Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage a diverse workload.

Desirable:

* Full clean driving licence (with business insurance).

* Level 6 Diploma in Careers Advice and Guidance, or willingness to work towards this.

* Knowledge of PDA profiles and further/higher education pathways.

* Experience organising career events, interviews, and trips.

Why apply?
This role offers the chance to make a real impact on learners’ futures, helping them achieve their ambitions and navigate their transition into adulthood. You’ll join a supportive, innovative team committed to excellence and meaningful outcomes for every learner.

Safeguarding:
