Health & Wellbeing Community Coach - Empower Salary: £16.75 per hour Location: Watford/ St Albans/ Hemel Hempstead Contract type: Casual Project times: Empower runs every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evening from 5pm - 8pm Reporting to: Empower Project Officer Summary of your Role: Empower is a free six month project that aims to improve young people’s mental health using physical activity. Each session is 90 minutes in length and consists of 60 minutes of physical activity, typically in the form of a sport session such as dodgeball, football, basketball, badminton, or dance. Following the physical activity, we complete a 30-minute wellbeing workshop, which is a facilitated conversation between participants, Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust Coaches and a NESSie psychotherapist. As a Watford FC CSE Trust sports coach you will be responsible for delivering the 60 minutes of, physical activity for 9- 12 year olds, with the support of another coach. You will aim to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of our participants through providing innovative, fun and engaging games and activities. Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To Plan and prepare high quality physical activity sessions for the participants with other coaches. Be flexible to adapt physical activity sessions depending on the needs of the participants. Deliver sport sessions, with the support of a coach, for 60 mins. Create a positive, excitement and safe environment for young people to promote improvement in their mental and physical well-being. Uphold Watford FC CSE Trust safeguarding practice, including reporting concerns to relevant staff. Understand the Trust’s equality, diversity and inclusivity policy and demonstrate them in your professional practice. General Responsibilities To actively demonstrate and promote the Trust’s core values through your work. Adhere to the Trust’s policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the Trust. To work in partnership with all the Club’s departments on community initiatives as identified by the Community Director and Board of Trustees. To actively promote the Trust in a positive and professional manner at all times. To undertake any other duties which might reasonably be deemed within the status of the job and appropriate to the post. You Must Have A thorough understanding of mental health and it’s impact on young people. Experience working with challenging behaviours Experience working with children and young people Some level of experience coaching/ working within sports You Ideally Would Have A valid safeguarding qualification. A valid First Aid qualification. A valid mental health first aid certificate. Any relevant sport qualifications.
