Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by a leading Essex-based client to recruit for a Power Tools Buyer.
Working as a key member of the Buying team you will be responsible for all aspects of the buying function and administration for the Power Tools product range to support the Head of Power Tools in creating the buying strategy, achieving, and maximising opportunities for sales, profits, and margin. Additionally, you'll take responsibility for the sales and profit performance of a high turnover product category while, sourcing and developing new and existing product ranges.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain buying matrices for all suppliers within the category.
* Research and source new brands/products, negotiating prices, promotions, and rebates to meet margin targets.
* Attend UK and international trade shows, leading supplier meetings as needed.
* Forecast, schedule, and place purchase orders, considering stock, sales, promos, warehouse space, and lead times.
* Monitor product performance, taking action on underperforming lines.
* Accurately upload system data and resolve related queries.
* Build strong supplier relationships and ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
* Collaborate with buying and marketing teams on supplier matrices and product info gathering.
* Support the Head of Power Tools in developing buying strategy through market and competitor analysis.
* Advise the team on managing product ranges to drive sales and profit.
* Mentor and support team training, development, and adherence to procedures.
* Help introduce improved buying practices and streamline processes.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and Health & Safety regulations.
Qualifications/Skills
To be a successful Power Tools Buyer for our client, it is essential that you have experience within retail and a minimum of 2 years’ experience purchasing/buying power tool products.
Having commercial awareness and understanding of buying budgets, forecasts, and margins is also required with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Additionally, you must be motivated and able to work independently while being able to form strong working relationships across a variety of business functions.
