The new appointee will automatically be a member of the Medical Staff Committee. The post-holder will:
* Participate in the departmental rota for routine surgical pathology reporting, and dissection.
* Attend multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) according to rostering and clinical need.
* Participate in the MDT cancer care structure and assume leadership for cell pathology in at least one MDT, according to the interests of the postholder and the needs of the department in consultation with existing consultant colleagues.
* Refer specialist cases to appropriate referral centres for reporting.
* Work with colleagues to provide a consultant‑led service of the highest standard.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines.
* Develop and maintain good working practices, including adherence to departmental SOPs and guidelines issued by professional bodies such as the Royal College of Pathologists.
* Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues and other members of the team, including laboratory, secretarial and mortuary staff.
* Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care.
All Consultants have a continuing and individual responsibility for the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients in their charge. Within Histopathology, Consultants are expected to share in the duties associated with providing an efficient and effective service, making use of all available skill mix including biomedical scientist dissection.

Relocation package: up to £8,000, an additional £20,000 lump sum, and 1.5 additional SPAs for the first 12 months. Conditions will apply.
