Westfield London is seeking an experienced and proactive Fire Safety Manager to join our team.
The key objective is to ensure the effective management of fire safety risks in the centre. The Fire Safety Manager will conduct audits, reviews, inspections, and follow-up actions personally, and will offer expert advice and guidance to the centre management team and other parts of the business.
Main Duties
Strategic
* Work with the Centre Risk Manager to ensure the Fire Strategy is up to date.
* Assist the Risk Manager and responsible person in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment and a positive Risk Management culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company policies, including the Centre Health & Safety Management System and Fire Logbook.
* Promote a positive fire prevention and safety culture throughout the workplace, leading by example.
Tactical
* Keep the Centre Fire Risk Assessment under constant review and ensure it is current.
* Monitor all Life Safety Equipment, ensuring inspections and servicing are within guidelines.
* Oversee scheduled preventative maintenance and statutory testing of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems.
* Manage the Property Insurance Impairment Notice system and assist the Facilities Department.
* Liaise with the Facilities Manager to ensure maintenance records are properly documented.
* Ensure fire protective equipment and measures are maintained and compliant with legislation, manufacturer recommendations, and best practices, including detection systems, sprinklers, smoke control, emergency lighting, etc.
* Provide fire safety awareness, evacuation, and Duty Manager training to staff and others as needed.
* Maintain key documentation such as fire safety policies and procedures.
Operational
* Approve contractor access requests via CTracker for fire safety and property protection activities.
* Monitor and close out permits as approved.
* Oversee fire alarm activations, understand root causes, and implement lessons learned.
* Record observations and incidents contrary to access procedures.
* Address fire safety issues or assign corrective actions using the electronic system (Sphera).
* Provide risk management cover during the Risk Manager’s absence or as needed.
