Job Summary
Our Client, a leading engineering and design consultancy, is seeking a Senior Human Factors Safety Assurance Consultant to join their team in Bristol, Birmingham, Derby, London, Manchester, Silchester, or Cheltenham. You’ll work alongside talented specialists delivering cutting-edge Human Factors solutions across sectors, with an initial focus on Defence Nuclear projects. The team supports complex socio-technical systems, contributing to safety cases and engineering programmes by enhancing human performance in high-hazard industries. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.
Experience
- Experience of providing Human Factors support to Safety Cases, such as development and substantiation of Human-Based Safety Claims. - Experience of applying Human Reliability Assessment methods and techniques within the high hazard industry, such as task and error analysis, HEART and THERP. - Experience working within high hazard engineering environment and are familiar with engineering terminology. - Be able to communicate effectively with the wider safety case team, engineers and other disciplines on human factors issues. - A good degree or post graduate qualification in Human Factors or a related discipline, such as psychology, engineering or industrial design. CIEHF Registered Member status or equivalent or working towards chartership. - Experience of delivering Human Factors work packages within Defence or high hazard regulated industries. - Experience of planning and applying Human Factors Integration (HFI) and Human Factors processes, standards and techniques to engineering projects. - Knowledge of relevant UK and international standards/guidance and their application. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. - Evidence of a commitment to technical excellence and continued professional development. - Excellent interpersonal, communication and client facing skills.
Job Responsibilities
* Managing and leading Human Factors work packages, ensuring quality technical delivery.
* Reviewing Human Factors deliverables providing feedback to staff on areas for development.
* Developing and maintaining client relationships identifying new opportunities.
* Supporting development and mentorship of more junior members of staff.
* Working in multi-disciplinary teams on major programmes and carrying out specialised work on an individual basis.
* Supporting business development activities including, identifying opportunities, writing bids and the development of detailed costings of Human Factors tasks.
* Contributing to innovation and knowledge sharing across their Human Factors community.
