Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Hip/Knee surgeon)
Job Summary
We are excited to advertise a new substantive Consultant Orthopaedic post within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be appointed as Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon, with a specialist interest in lower limb hip and knee arthroplasty, revision hip surgery, and the management of periprosthetic fractures.
This post has a 10% part‑time job plan and a 1‑in‑12 on‑call rota.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a high‑quality elective arthroplasty and revision service, including MDT.
* Deliver a high‑quality trauma service, including managing the on‑call week, operating, clinics and on‑calls.
* Work efficiently to improve the overall efficiency and financial viability of the service.
* Reduce referral‑to‑treatment time for patients.
* Teach and support residents and medical students.
* Support local and national audit.

* Full GMC registration (with licence to practice)
* CCT Specialist registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
* CESR
* Minimum English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent) or IELTS, or graduate of a UK medical school.
