About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and practical Senior Facilities Support and Fire Door Specialist to work across our multi-region group of five care homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong carpentry background, supported by broad general building and maintenance skills, and a solid working knowledge of Fire Door regulations and remedial works.
This is a group-wide role spanning multiple regions, with regular travel required across our homes in Norfolk, Suffolk, and Warwickshire. The position combines specialist fire-door responsibilities with hands-on operational support, ensuring consistent standards, safety, and compliance across all sites.
Job Opportunity
Key Responsibilities
Fire Door and Fire Safety Lead (Group-Wide)
* Act as the primary specialist for all fire door compliance and maintenance across the group.
* Take responsibility for inspections, repairs, replacements, certification and documentation relating to fire doors and associated fire safety components.
* Work with home managers and external assessors to ensure each home meets all relevant statutory and regulatory standards.
* Provide practical guidance and training to local maintenance teams on fire door requirements and good practice.
Facilities Support (Holmwood House and other homes as required)
* Provide regular facilities support at Holmwood House to strengthen the day to day maintenance function.
* Deliver skilled carpentry and general building works including repairs, improvements and planned maintenance tasks
* Ensure property related compliance matters are completed and up to date
* Support other homes when specific operational needs or capacity challenges arise.
Flexibility
This role is designed with clear flexibility. Deployment will be based on:
* Fire safety priorities across all homes
* Daily operational and maintenance needs at Holmwood House and able to travel to provide the same support to the facilities teams across the group as required
Essential Skills
Skills and Experience
* Qualified or highly experienced carpenter with strong general building and maintenance capability
* Solid understanding of fire door regulations, remedial works and inspection & certification requirements
* Experience working in care homes or other similar regulated environments is an advantage
* Able to work independently, manage priorities and communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels
* Full UK driving license
