About the Role
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced sexual health nurse to work within the integrated Sexual Health Service in South Staffordshire, predominantly based in the Branston clinic.
MPFT provides three sexual health clinics in South Staffordshire, located in Stafford (Civic Centre), Burton on Trent (Branston), and Tamworth (Sir Robert Peel Hospital). These clinics offer contraception, sexual health, and HIV care for a diverse patient demographic.
The successful candidate will be based primarily in Stafford, Burton, or Tamworth, with the specific location agreed upon after the interview. There may be occasional travel to other clinics for clinical work or training, with expenses reimbursed. Flexibility is required, as the role may involve some evening work until 8 pm and Saturday mornings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leading and undertaking nurse-led clinics alongside colleagues to ensure continuous service provision.
2. Assessing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, making healthcare needs assessments based on advanced nursing knowledge.
3. Planning and coordinating patient care, including physical examinations and investigations.
4. Ordering investigations, providing treatment, and referring to other agencies as needed.
5. Assessing contraceptive needs through comprehensive history-taking.
6. Maintaining high-quality clinical records in line with policies and confidentiality standards.
7. Offering pregnancy assessments, counseling, and support for terminations, including post-termination contraception discussions.
8. Providing testing for sexually transmitted infections, treatments, pregnancy testing, and contraception provision, including LARCs.
9. Working within Patient Group Directions to issue contraception and treatments.
Candidate Requirements
We seek candidates with the necessary skills and experience to deliver sexual health and contraception services, including post-registration qualifications or competencies in the field. A passion for sexual health and contraception, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
