Our Perth manufacturing site plays a key role within the business, supported by a collaborative Engineering team focused on reliability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Role Overview We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineering Apprentice to join our Manufacturing site in Perth, Scotland. The apprenticeship is a 4-year programme with a mandatory start date in August 2026. Engineering plays a critical role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations across the site. This apprenticeship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment while working towards a nationally recognised engineering qualification. The role is primarily site-based, with one day per week spent at college developing theoretical engineering knowledge and practical skills. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will gain broad exposure to both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering disciplines while supporting the Engineering team with day-to-day maintenance and improvement activities. From the beginning of the programme, you will receive structured support, mentoring, and a personal development plan designed to help you build the skills and experience required for a successful engineering career. What You Will Learn During the apprenticeship, you will develop knowledge and practical experience in: Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Facilities Engineering Fault Finding on Manufacturing Equipment Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Continuous Improvement Principles Safe Engineering Working Practices Manufacturing Systems and Automation Key Responsibilities Engineering & Maintenance Support - Assist with planned preventative maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment and site services. Support breakdown response and fault-finding activities under supervision. Learn and apply engineering best practices across mechanical and electrical systems. Support equipment changeovers, adjustments, and improvement activities. Assist with engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Accurately complete maintenance documentation and records. Support the Engineering team in maintaining high equipment reliability and performance. Health, Safety & Compliance - Follow all site health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Work safely at all times and contribute to a positive safety culture. Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE). Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses promptly. Ensure engineering activities are completed in line with company standards and procedures. Learning & Development - Attend college and complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments. Actively participate in on-site training and development activities. Develop practical engineering skills through hands-on experience. Build understanding of manufacturing processes and operational systems. Seek feedback and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning. Teamwork & Communication - Work collaboratively with Engineers, Operators, and Production teams. Participate in daily Engineering meetings and shift handovers where appropriate. Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors. Apprenticeship Programme This apprenticeship is a Level 3 Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. You will attend Dundee & Angus College one day per week for the first three years of the apprenticeship programme. The remainder of your training will take place on-site, supported by experienced Engineers and regular visits from your college assessor. The apprenticeship is designed to provide a broad understanding of engineering within a manufacturing environment, offering exposure to multiple departments and operational areas across the site. The role is offered on a full-time permanent contract.
