An established planning and design consultancy is seeking an Associate Director to lead and deliver a range of complex, high-impact planning projects across the UK. This is a chance to shape sensitive rural and mixed-use developments, working collaboratively with in-house design, landscape, and development specialists.
You’ll play a key role in guiding strategy, mentoring talented planners, and supporting the continued growth of a respected and forward-thinking practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage diverse planning projects, ensuring quality, innovation, and timely delivery
* Provide strategic planning advice across residential, commercial, leisure, and rural sectors
* Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, confident communication
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to long-term company growth
* Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated design and planning solutions
* Mentor and support junior colleagues, promoting a culture of learning and creativity
What You’ll Bring
* 7+ years’ post-qualification experience in planning, ideally with leadership or management responsibility
* MRTPI accreditation (or equivalent professional qualification)
* Strong technical understanding of UK planning legislation and rural policy
* Proven ability to deliver complex projects with sensitivity and commercial awareness
* Excellent interpersonal, client engagement, and presentation skills
* A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach
