We are now looking for a Flight Operations Officer to join our 24/7 Operations Control Centre (OCC). This is a key role that helps ensure every DHL Air flight operates safely, efficiently, and on time.
Purpose of the Role
As a Flight Operations Officer, you will play a vital part in the safe and timely dispatch of our flights. You will plan efficient flight routes, monitor aircraft throughout their journeys, and support decision making that keeps our global network running smoothly. Your work will have a direct impact on safety, operational performance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispatch DHL Air flights safely and on time
* Plan efficient routes in line with our fuel policy
* Provide proactive flight tracking and in flight monitoring
* Review and interpret TAF, METAR, and NOTAM information
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
* Support airport slot requests, overflight permissions, and ETOPS planning
* Coordinate with teams using aircraft and cargo handling systems
* Adapt to changing priorities in a fast moving operational environment
* Work a rotating pattern of 12 hour day and night shifts

Required
* Proven experience in flight operations
* Understanding of TAF, METAR, NOTAM bulletins, aircraft scheduling, and IATA/ICAO codes
* Knowledge of computer flight planning systems (such as LIDO Flight or similar)
* Confident working with IT systems, including the NOP portal and MS Office
* Experience in flight watch activities, including customer and supplier coordination
* Familiarity with airport slot requests and overflight procedures
* Knowledge of aircraft and cargo handling systems
* Five GCSEs (grades 9–4/A–C or equivalent), including Maths and English
* Ability to work a rotating day/night roster (12 hour shifts)
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures
Nice to Have
* Previous flight planning experience
* Candidates without flight planning experience may be considered for a junior position
