Your New Role: As Assistant Head of Year, you will be at the heart of the school's pastoral provision, working closely with the Head of Year, tutors, senior leaders and families to ensure every student within the year group is supported, motivated and able to excel. Your responsibilities will include: Leading year-group culture-setting the tone for behaviour, attitudes and aspirations. Monitoring student progress and wellbeing, identifying barriers and coordinating timely interventions. Upholding behaviour policies with consistency, fairness and a solutions-focused mindset. Building strong relationships with students, staff and families to improve outcomes. Responding to safeguarding needs, following school procedures and liaising with DSLs. Coordinating the tutor team and contributing to the wider pastoral vision. Delivering year-group assemblies, events, celebrations and key messages. This is a fast-paced, highly rewarding role where no two days are the same. What You'll Need to Succeed: To excel in this role, you will bring: Strong behaviour leadership and a calm, resilient approach. Experience working with young people in an educational setting. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A proactive, organised and solution-orientated mindset. The ability to analyse patterns in attendance, behaviour and engagement. A genuine commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping students achieve their potential. GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths, are typically required.
