This role is a unique opportunity to work on a key initiative that involves video inspection and cleaning of drainage systems, contributing to the enhancement of critical infrastructure. In this role, you will play an essential role in ensuring that the collected data is accurate, well-organized, and compliant with industry standards. The project will require you to work closely with a multidisciplinary team, applying your expertise in GIS technologies to manage and clean drainage-related data. Your work will directly influence the effectiveness of asset management systems, improving the reliability and long-term maintenance of essential drainage infrastructure. This is a part-time role, offering flexibility and an opportunity to make a real difference in a meaningful and challenging project that is scheduled to run until November 2026. Support drainage mapping efforts by reviewing, updating, and maintaining asset records and spatial data. Assist with managing and verifying asset inventories within transportation-based GIS systems. Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate geospatial workflows, data validation, and QA/QC processes. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to understand project requirements and GIS data needs. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve GIS data issues, discrepancies, and workflow challenges as they arise. Review and integrate newly collected data from drainage inspections into existing GIS systems. Prepare data summaries, reports, and visual outputs to support project tracking and decision-making. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance data quality, efficiency, and long-term usability of GIS systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on programming languages. At least 5 years of professional experience in GIS-related software development and spatial data management. Experience in drainage infrastructure mapping, asset inventories, and transportation-based GIS systems. Proficiency in GIS applications (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS). Python scripting skills for geospatial automation and validation. GIS Certificate or GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional) preferred. Experience working on projects related to infrastructure and asset management, particularly in the context of drainage and transportation systems, or with agencies like the NJTA.
