Job Summary
We are delighted to be seeking full‑time Employment Specialists (Band 5) to join our IPS services in Halifax and Batley. Individuals will support people who have experienced mental health problems in exploring their interests, building vocational profiles and securing sustainable employment. The role is fully integrated with the community mental health team and supports the recovery journey of our clients.
Main Duties
* Use a strength‑based approach to collaboratively create and review employment plans, considering barriers and work adjustments.
* Provide flexible, individualised support – benefits counselling, job brokerage, CV building, job searching and application assistance.
* Maintain regular contact with employers, negotiating adjustments and ensuring ongoing employment stability.
* Manage your own caseload autonomously, reporting to the Team Leader and receiving support from the Service Manager.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing clear and concise feedback.

Qualifications & Experience
* Educated to degree level in a subject relevant to the role (or equivalent experience).
* Coaching or motivational interviewing experience or qualification.
* Experience working with people who have experienced mental health problems and related employment difficulties.
* Experience in health or social services, voluntary sector or similar.
Essential Personal Attributes
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to build and develop relationships with employers and service users.
* Vocational assessment and HR knowledge relevant to mental health employment support.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to monitor and administer a balanced caseload.
* Good IT and administrative skills.
* Motivational skills and ability to use own initiative.
* Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day.
* Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the role.
Desirable
* Good marketing and negotiation skills.
* Understanding of applied research methods and evidence‑based practice.
* Occupational therapy or occupational psychology training.
* IPS training or employer engagement training.
* Personal lived experience of mental health problems.
Human Resources Knowledge
* Experience of employment legislation and welfare rights/benefits system.
* Good practice in HR and employment for people with mental health needs.
Employment Conditions
Band 5 – £31,049 to £37,796 per year. Permanent contract, full‑time, flexible working. Locations: Halifax, Batley, and Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre.
