Job Summary
Applications are invited to join our talented team in the Emergency Department of Hereford County Hospital, with the opportunity for CESR support. This is one of the most friendly and supportive workplaces I have worked at. It is an amazing place to improve and grow as a clinician because of a great emphasis being put into personal development. There are numerous opportunities to learn new clinical skills and regular teaching, and an overall culture of encouraging one to evolve and accomplish short and long‑term goals. The best thing about this job is that I feel I am working with friends rather than colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team whose main aim is to ensure the highest standards of Emergency Medicine are delivered by the department. You will be part of the team responsible for resuscitating critically ill medical, surgical, and trauma patients, both young and old, as well as working in the Majors, ambulatory and minor injuries areas. You should be prepared to see any patient with any condition, recognise and manage rapidly those who may be unwell or require timely resuscitation, determine which patients can be safely discharged, and recognise those who need further investigation and admission. You will be required to obtain senior input with certain patients rapidly and effectively, and you will also support and teach junior medical and nursing staff, contribute to quality improvement, and ensure the smooth running of the department by allocating resources appropriately. Specialty Doctors are on site 24 hours a day 7 days a week, with consultants on call at all times.
