About the role
Here at DS Smith we are looking for an experienced Project Manager for Paper & Board Development within out Group Research & Development department. Reporting into the Paper & Board Development Director, the successful applicant will support the creation and development of the Paper & Board project agenda. The focus within P&D Development will be placed on the application and introduction of new material and manufacturing technologies for corrugated board, supporting DS Smith’s sustainability strategy in reducing fibre usage. In doing so, the Project Manager will ensure the alternative is comparable with increased performance level, scouting and scaling up alternative fibre portfolios as well introducing innovative applications as plastic replacements.
As the Project Manager you will be defining, creating and managing the delivery of projects assigned to the Paper & Development department, creating robust reporting and management of the P&B innovation pipeline. You will lead proof of concept and pilot work; exploring feasibility (including trials, tests and prototypes), develop new technology bricks, review implications of new paper and port developments with business stakeholders (sales, marketing, operations etc) and review any developments against out sustainability and recycling agendas. You will be comfortable creating business cases, capital requirement analysis, reporting processes and technical solution development.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with a variety of stakeholders. As you will be managing (and creating!) new product innovations, you will present and showcase emerging projects to the business as the SME in Paper & Board. You will also work closely with external partners, keeping up to date with emerging paper based materials and new literature and patents in the field, contributing to the wider R&D network.

About you
Minimum requirements:
* Experienced Project Management professional
* Experience in Manufacturing process of corrugated board and products.
* Degree level in a scientific / technology field.
* Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, MS project.
* Team worker, structured and involved.
* Hands-on, pragmatic, results oriented.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Open-minded and creative.
* Developed curiosity, interpersonal, communication and animation skills.
* Available for travelling and comfortable within an international matrix organization
