Job Description
Job Type: Full-time - night shift from home post training
Salary: £36,400 rising to £40,000 upon successful completion of probation
Role Overview
This role is responsible for the day-to-day operational planning of a vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient service delivery and meeting agreed service levels. You will play a key role in coordinating resources, managing schedules, and responding to both planned and reactive requests in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Pattern
4 on 4 off rotation:
* Day Shift: 08:00 – 18:00
* Day Shift: 08:00 – 18:00
* Mid Shift: 12:00 – 22:00
* Night Shift: 20:00 – 08:00 - from home post training
Initial training will be Monday to Friday before moving onto the shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate daily vehicle and driver schedules to meet service requirements
* Allocate resources efficiently, ensuring time-critical and cost-effective delivery
* Respond to real-time operational changes and incidents, maintaining service continuity
* Act as a key point of contact for urgent and out-of-hours requests, managing responses calmly and effectively
* Liaise with drivers, internal teams, and clients to ensure smooth delivery of services
* Create detailed work instructions, including equipment, access requirements, and timings
* Handle inbound queries via phone, email, and internal systems relating to scheduling and service delivery
* Provide guidance to clients on resource allocation and operational solutions
* Ensure compliance with Driver Hours regulations and Working Time Directive
* Support vehicle availability planning, including maintenance, servicing, and defect reporting
* Assist with cost tracking and operational reporting
* Arrange travel and accommodation as required to support service delivery
* Manage customer queries and complaints in relation to service delivery
* Support both planned and reactive delivery operations
Skills & Experience
* Experience within transport operations, logistics, or scheduling
* Good understanding of driver hours legislation and compliance
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
* Proactive, solutions-focused mindset
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels
* Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
