Offer description

Overview

* Reporting to: Head of Government Partnerships
* Visa sponsorship: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants should have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
* Background checks: Due to the nature of the work we do with global governments and partners, all employees need to pass background checks, verifying your identity, education (if relevant), work history, sanctions, criminal record, adverse financial history and right to work.
* You can expect to hear from us, no matter the outcome, by: 23rd September
* Salary expectations: We aim for transparency on salary bands. If our range is misaligned with your expectations, we’d welcome an open conversation as early as possible.

Role

Frameworks and tenders are critical to scaling our reach with central and local government in the UK. We’re looking for a dedicated manager to lead Apolitical’s engagement with procurement processes so we can unlock more contracts that deliver long-term public value.

The ideal candidate will be motivated to drive business growth, shape winning submissions, and build best practice across our bid processes. This role directly helps us achieve our mission by securing strategic and multi-year contracts across the UK public sector and influencing our ongoing tender and market engagement pipeline.

Team

This is a collaborative and high-impact role. You’ll join the Government Sales team, working closely with colleagues across Partnerships, Compliance, Learning and Product.

Tasks and remit

* Identify and qualify UK procurement frameworks and tender opportunities.
* Lead the development and submission of compelling, compliant bids that reflect Apolitical’s capabilities and impact.
* Manage the bid pipeline, track performance and implement continuous improvement.
* Grow sales through existing frameworks and explore new government-approved procurement routes.
* Incorporate lessons learned and market feedback into future bids to sharpen our competitive edge.

Role expectations

Within one month, you will…

* Familiarise yourself with Apolitical’s mission, team and products.
* Review our current UK framework and tender pipeline.
* Lead on smaller-scale proposal responses with support from the team.

Within three months, you will…

* Take ownership of the end-to-end bid process for mid-size opportunities.
* Update the qualification framework to decide which tenders we pursue.
* Present a structured overview of our bid strategy for the UK market to senior leadership.

Within six months, you will…

* Independently lead major framework applications and large-scale tenders.
* Demonstrate measurable improvements in win rate and process efficiency.
* Embed a culture of continuous improvement for government sales processes, open tenders and future opportunities.

About you

This is a great fit if you…

* Have a track record securing UK government tenders.
* Are experienced in managing tender pipelines, from early market engagement through to submission.
* Bring commercial acumen, sound judgement and compliance awareness.
* Understand government processes and security requirements.
* Are an organised project manager and effective communicator.
* Enjoy working cross-functionally and building collaborative solutions.
* Are proactive, agile and motivated by balancing quality with pace.
* Are passionate about government capability and public service.

This likely won’t be the right role if you…

* Prefer working on a small number of single projects at a time.
* Want a role with direct reports (this is an individual contributor role).
* Thrive in predictable, steady environments. Our work and priorities change frequently, evolving with government needs.

Don’t meet every single expectation? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. Apolitical is dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
