Location: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, West Midlands

We are seeking a newly graduated intern with a specific interest in analysing performance to provide analytical support and capacity to the Performance function within our office. The role will be for 12 months and you will be expected to be able to work in the centre of Birmingham.
You will be contributing to holding West Midlands Police to account through assisting in the interpretation and reporting of performance information. This includes the analysis of data and production of information to help understand trends in police performance. There will be opportunities to complete research into particular areas that impact on policing and the criminal justice system.
We are looking for individuals with some knowledge of research techniques, methods and application, the ability to proficiently analyse quantitative data and confidence to present results in reports. An understanding of data quality and information governance issues and the ability to utilise a full range of standard office IT software/packages, particularly Excel or Power BI.
This role would suit an individual who has an interest in the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and would use this opportunity to add capacity to our office, while gaining and developing valuable skills and experience in the public sector, working for a politician. The individual would have the opportunity to shadow the PCC, members of staff and understand and support some of our key priorities, and training will be provided where required.
