What You Will Be Doing
* Design and implement scalable, agent based LLM architectures
* Set technical standards for code quality, testing and system reliability
* Make key architectural decisions balancing innovation with long term maintainability
* Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging AI technologies and approaches
* Mentor engineers in LLM integration and software design patterns
* Build sophisticated function calling systems integrating LLMs with specialist computational tools
* Develop robust prompt engineering strategies for complex scientific applications
* Implement fine tuning pipelines and optimisation techniques for domain specific use cases
* Create comprehensive testing and monitoring frameworks for production AI systems
* Design systems capable of handling concurrent users and computationally intensive workloads
* Contribute to product and strategic decisions from a technical perspective
What You Will Bring
Technical Expertise
* Strong Python development experience within modern data science environments
* Proven track record building production LLM applications using commercial APIs
* Deep experience with prompt engineering, RAG architectures and function calling
* Production experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP or Azure
* Knowledge of containerisation and CI/CD practices
Advanced AI Capability
* Experience fine tuning and customising models for domain specific applications
* Understanding of transformer architectures and NLP frameworks
Leadership and Communication
* Experience architecting systems that scale with growing user bases
* Ability to establish and uphold engineering standards
* Strong technical communication skills across diverse audiences
* Confidence mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
