Job description
Property Inspector � Role Overview
We have two temporary property inspector positions available working on the Department for Education Schools Inspection Programme in England to undertake inspection and measurement of a broad range of secondary and special educational needs and disability (SEND) schools� and to capture high quality, consistent and reliable data to support the significant programme of work within the Net Capacity Assessment (NCA).
The temporary positions are expected to last until the end of June 2025 with the possibility of a short extension.
Property Inspector � Key responsibilities
1. Undertake inspection and measurement work as allocated by the Team Manager.
2. Engage effectively with all stakeholders including individual schools, representing the NCA programme consistently and professionally.
3. Work closely with team member on site and Technical Lead to quality assure the data captured.
4. Accountable for decisions that are taken within guidelines and under the technical leadership of the Team Manager and Technical Lead.
5. Capture of accurate inspection and measurement data on-site using bespoke IT hardware.
6. Data quality assurance ensuring consistent and reliable data.
7. Achieving key programme milestones.
Person specification
We are seeking property professionals with experience of inspection and measurement of properties alongside a good understanding of the working environment. Experience in school environments would be beneficial however, full training will be provided. Our ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of people, manage their workload to ensure the timelines of the programme are met and remain organised and motivated whilst delivering a quality service.
Essential Criteria
8. Ability to read and interpret plans with experience in capturing surveying data accurately during property inspections and measurements using the data capture technology and laser measure tool provided.
9. As a significant proportion of time will be on-site, the role requires effective communication skills, both verbally and written, with a broad range of people.
10. A well organised andmotivated individual with experience in working to timelines to ensure programme milestones are met.
11. Sound analytical skills, judgement and interpretative ability is required to measure and capture accurate, and consistent data.
12. Experience in building effective relationships and have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work collaboratively with team members and a range of stakeholders including the Local Authority, responsible bodies, and individual schools.
13. Ability to be flexible in approach, supporting the geographical spread of the NCA programme.
14. Full UK driving licence required as regular travel across designated regions will be required.
15. You must undergo an Enhanced DBS Check.
