Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, promoting dignity, independence, privacy, and wellbeing at all times within a residential care home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care
* Assist residents with daily living activities including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Support residents with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids.
* Assist with eating and drinking where required while encouraging independence.
Health & Wellbeing
* Monitor residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing and report any concerns to senior staff.
* Support residents with medication administration (where trained and authorised).
* Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
Emotional & Social Support
* Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
* Encourage participation in social activities and community engagement.
* Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
Daily Living Support
* Assist residents with meal preparation and serving meals.
* Support housekeeping tasks such as maintaining clean and safe living environments.
* Promote choice, independence, and respect for residents’ preferences.
Safeguarding & Safety
* Follow safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable adults.
* Adhere to health and safety policies, infection control, and moving & handling procedures.
* Respond appropriately to emergencies.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Caring and compassionate nature.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Reliable and flexible approach to shift work.
* Basic literacy and record-keeping skills.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a care setting.
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
* Knowledge of dementia care.
